Adoption Support in Society Today (ASIST) started in 1993 as a support group for families in Somerset who had adopted children and who were concerned about the way the adoption service was being delivered nationally – for children, birth parents and adoptive parents. We became a registered charity in 2002.

We believe that every woman with an unplanned pregnancy should be aware of all her options and so be able to make an informed choice based on this knowledge. We believe that adoption should be given equal status in the decision making process with the other options of abortion and keeping the baby.
