BEQUIA
Bequia a small, beautiful but impoverished island in the Granadines, West Indies. A small and very active Rotary Club would like to re-establish their accredited sail-training programme for youngsters on the island using their eight small dinghies. One of their members is a qualified instructor but the dinghies are in need of vital refurbishment. Funds raised, in conjunction with matched funds from other sources will emable the boats to be made fully seaworthy. The sail training scheme could then recommence.
NEPAL
Nepal is a beautiful country where most of the population live in rural areas. Shree Gaon Pharka School is very small primary school in an extremely poor area perched on a steep valley some 5400ft up in the foothills adjacent to the Annapurna mountain range, part of ther Himalayas. It is a 6 hours bus ride to the nearest town, the tourist resort of Pokhara.
Volleyball is a low cost sport in Nepal. All it requires is a piece of level ground and a net stretched across. This school wants to level and prepare the ground between their 2 schools blocks to construct such a court.
