Thank you for visiting this online fundraising page.
I have decided to raise some money for a very worthy cause and thought the best way to go about this would be by jumping off a crane, 160ft high. I was originally comforted by the fact that it is over water so thought if something were to go wrong, I would happily dive into a lovely cool blue river and then swim safely to shore. But this illusion was shattered when I was told that hitting the water from that height, would probably crush my skull and if it didn’t kill me, I would be left with severe brain damage. What I'm trying to say is, donate, whatever you can, because if you don’t, and that happens, you’re going to feel pretty bad.
On a serious note, the charity I am raising money for does some amazing work, on a very limited budget, the volunteers work silly hours and extremely hard and keep doing so in spite of some of the horrific things that they see, which I think would make most people just give up. Colleen is raising money for Animals Taiwan Org:
Animals Taiwan was established in 2004 and is now a registered non-profit organization devoted to the rescue, recovery, care, training and adoption of seriously ill and injured stray dogs and cats in Taiwan. To date, we have helped over 1000 animals, many of which were given little chance of survival upon initial veterinary assessment. Many of these animals also show signs of abuse, deliberate neglect, serious disease and injuries caused from traps and traffic accidents.
Our rescue center, located in Beitou, Taipei, is currently caring for over 70 healthy cats and dogs, all waiting for loving homes. We have 6 staff and over 500 volunteers who hold regular fundraising and adoption events, as well as a very successful animal sponsorship program and an education outreach program.
Animals Taiwan consists of a group of volunteers, both expatriates and locals, who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for the island’s abandoned and mistreated animals.
Animals Taiwan believes in giving every animal the chance of a life without suffering, however small that chance may be. Animals Taiwan was originally established for the sole purpose of the rescue, rehabilitation and adoption of needy animals, but as the organization grew, we refocused our efforts on finding the solution to the root source of the stray problem. This is why we are now heavily promoting CNR (Catch-Neuter-Return), responsible pet ownership and the importance of spaying and neutering.
Donations are most welcome as we are continuously growing and in need of additional funds to improve the rescue center and develop in areas of rescues, adoptions, CNR and education. Every dollar donated will help us to grow further and to realize our mission.
