What is gift aid?
Gift Aid is a simple way to increase the value of your gift to a charity. Making your donation using Gift Aid will enable us to reclaim the basic rate tax on your gift. This means that if you give £100 using Gift Aid in the tax year 2005-6, that gift is worth £128.21.
How do I take advantage of Gift Aid? One 'gift aid declaration' will cover all the gifts you make to all charities or good causes through the dove trust. You can call us to make a gift aid declaration on the telephone, or sign a gift aid declaration and send it to us.
Have I paid enough tax to claim gift aid? Tax means either UK income tax or capital gains tax, on employment (wages or self-employed income) or unearned income, such as interest, dividends, pensions, property sales etc.
If you give £100 to the dove trust for a charity or good cause, then we will receive £28.21 through gift aid.
From a tax point of view you therefore need to have paid at least £28.21 in the tax year for us to make a claim.
