Catherine and I want to climb Kilimanjaro next year to raise money for The Well in Bristol which is a safe house for women wishing to exit sex-work.
The women in The Well may well have been forced into prostitution from as young as 12 and some have even been pimped by their own parents. Most have drug and alcohol addictions and will have suffered violence, both on the streets and in relationships. They have very low self-esteem, anger management issues and most are struggling to maintain relationships with family members and children. The Well provides 24hr staffing for the women and assists them in all areas of their lives. They can stay at The Well for up to 2 years and we will then assist them to move-on into independent living. For most women, it doesn’t happen on their first stay. But after 2 or 3 stays over time, they find the strength they need to face all the many problems that have plagued them for so long and together with a lot of love and support from the dedicated staff team, they begin to take the necessary steps towards an independent, fulfilling life free from addiction and prostitution.

We are raising money for Alabare's work in Bristol:
Lazarus and Thomas Houses provide 24-hour supported accommodation for male ex-offenders who are making the transition from life in prison to life in the community. Charis House provides resettlement accommodation with a lower level of support to enable residents to move on to fully independent living. The Well is a supported housing project for vulnerable women who are leaving the sex industry or at risk of becoming involved in it. Residents have a key worker who works with them to draw up a support plan to meet their needs.
