I'm planning to run this race on behalf of St Nicks, a nature reserve and community centre off Hull Road in York. They are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the opening of the centre, so 10 of us are running 10k, and hoping to raise £1000 between us to help fund the centre and all the good work it does. This includes:
- maintaining the nature reserve (which has cycle paths, a stone circle and a kids play area, and is very nice if you ever fancy a visit); - providing a kerbside recycling service to the area surrounding the site; - providing training and advice on all sorts of environmental activities, including composting, wildlife photography and carpentry; - putting on lots of different events and activities, such as tree planting, foraging walks and give and take swap meets.
I'm hoping to raise at least £90 through fundrasing, as well as putting in £10 myself, so please do chip in and help me reach the target. Cheers!

Ginevra is raising money for Friends Of St Nicholas Fields:
Friends of St Nicholas Fields is York’s leading organisation promoting sustainable living. We started by transforming a former landfill site into a thriving St Nicholas Fields Local Nature Reserve. We continue to manage it, with the help of many great volunteers, for the benefit of both widlife and our visitors. We are based at York Environment Centre located on the edge of the Reserve, which was one of the first community buildings in the UK to combine many green features.
From this base, we provide inspiration, advice, practical examples and services to enable people in York and beyond to move towards a sustainable future. Our projects include a (near)zero carbon emissions kerbside recycling collection, Sustainable City Education Programme, home composting advice network of York Rotters, Green Away Days and a programme of events. The Centre is available for booking for meetings, seminars and other events. We rely on the continued support of volunteers and members, and we could not continue without it. There are many ways you can help, including volunteering, joining Friends or making a donation through Charity Giving. Any support is much appreciated.
