Home-Start's Personal Message:
In this, our 10th Anniversary year we have launched the first ever fundraising campaign of Home-Start Borehamwood & District.
Our target is to raise £60,000 to secure our involvement in helping young families in real need in Borehamwood and Potters Bar.
We are facing a shortfall this year, which is likely to be worsened by cut-backs in funding next year. It is difficult to go forward with confidence in the face of such uncertainty. £60,000 is equal to one year’s expense of our office and staff and will provide us with the platform we need to move forward with real confidence.
Our costs are low and our offices tiny, but our three part-time staff now support 50 volunteers who work with over fifty families and nearly a hundred children. Early intervention is proven to be a highly effective way to tackle social problems and can save the greater cost of managing troubled families later on.
Tjhank you to NatWest who have donated £3,000 to get us started on this appeal.
Under the Gift Aid scheme the Government will add a further 28 pence to every pound if you are a UK taxpayer and tick the gift aid check box. Please help us by making a donation now. We will all be hugely grateful.
Home-Start is raising money for Home-start Borehamwood & District:
Home-Start offers friendship and informal support to parents with at least one child under 5 during difficult times in their lives, so that each of those children can have a good start in life.
Support is provided in the Borehamwood, Potters Bar and surrounding areas through committed and caring volunteers, who are usually parents themselves. They visit families at home and are friendly, approachable people who are relied on and trusted by parents to listen without being judgemental, and to respect the needs of each individual family.
