Event: Climbing Mount Everest via the North Ridge (Sat 3rd April to Thu 10th June 2010)

Ian's Personal Message:

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I'm hoping to raise £8850 ( that's the height of Everest in metres - 29,035 ft in old money) for each of my two chosen charities.

In May I will be attempting to climb Mount Everest, via the fabled North-East Ridge route taken by George Mallory and Andrew Irvine during the 1924 British Expedition. I will be going with Adventure Peaks Ltd and once I've departed on the 3rd April you can check my progress via their website:

Making a donation through Charity Giving is simple.

Charity Giving, which is operated by The Dove Trust, have over 25 years experience of helping individuals, charities and good causes globally, so your giving is safe and secure. They will reclaim gift aid tax on your donation (if you are a UK taxpayer), meaning any donation is worth around 25% more.

For those that know me well, you'll know I like to get value for money so you'll be pleased to learn that they charge less than any other fundraising website. They only make a charge against gift aided donations, which means more of your money goes to these two great charities!

So if you feel able to sponsor me, even if it's just a £1, that would be much appreciated

Thanks for reading this far!

Best wishes

Ian

Ian is raising money for Dartmoor Search And Rescue Team (Ashburton) and The Intensive Care Society:
All donations received will be split equally between these two charities:

1. My local Mountain Rescue Team which I am a member of - The Dartmoor Rescue Group (Ashburton). All members are unpaid volunteers and it is completely self funded, as are all Mountain Rescue Teams in the UK, from donations. They receive no public money.

2. The Intensive Care Society which aims to advance and promote the care of critically ill patients. In simple terms, these are the doctors who care for patients on life support. Vital work if heaven forbid you or a relative should require their help.
