Page for: Julie & Colin Lewis Our Personal Message:
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Those of that you that know me, know that I am a strong supporter of animal rights and welfare issues. I know that there are hundreds of deserving charities to choose from, but this is a special one, run by very special people who have taken on this role out of the goodness of their hearts.
To try and help raise some much needed funds to help transport some of the rescued pups to their new homes in Holland, Colin (my husband) and I are taking part in The Big Fun Run. We will be running (we hope) the 5k circuit on Saturday 12th September at Graves Park, Sheffield - please don't come to watch! But if you could support us, we, the Rowles family and mostly, the dogs will be really grateful ;o)
Making a donation through Charity Giving is simple. charitygiving.co.uk is operated by The Dove Trust, a charity with over 25 years experience of helping individuals, charities and good causes globally, so your giving is safe and secure.
Charity Giving will reclaim gift aid tax on your donation (if you are a UK taxpayer), meaning any donation is worth around 25% more. They also charge less than other fundraising websites, so more money goes to this great cause!
We are raising money for Rudozem Street Dog Rescue:
Rudozem Street Dog Rescue is a non-profit foundation. Registered Foundation No. 175647065
Bulgaria has many street dogs that are often subjected to the most horrendous cruelty. They are kicked, beaten and shot on a regular basis for no other reason than that it provides certain individuals with amusement. Many of these dogs are injured and in pain, starving and in the winter there is a high chance that they will freeze to death.
In 2007, the Rowles family moved from the UK to Bulgaria and were shocked by the overwhelming population of Street dogs in Bulgaria, and the conditions these dogs are subjected to.
Since moving to Bulgaria the Rowles family have rescued many of these dogs and had them re-homed in Holland through an adoption scheme.
The family started, The Rudozem Street Dog Rescue and became a registered Foundation in March 2009.
Their aim is to buy land & open a shelter so they can save as many street dogs as they can off the street and get them re-homed. The RSDR is currently working from their own home.
