This appeal aims to help the Midland Railway charity replace the church windows that were vandalised in December 2011.
The Midland Railway rescued and rebuilt its Victorian tin tabernacle church from Westhouses in Derbyshire a number of years ago. Since then it has become a significant attraction at the railway's museum complex at Swanwick Junction.
The church will be very familiar to the railway's visitors, as well as to attendees of the annual Indietracks music festival, where the church acts as one of the festival's stages.
Unfortunately on Monday 5 December 2011, six of the church's windows were smashed in an act of vandalism. The charity understands that the windows will cost over a thousand pounds to replace.
This appeal will run until Saturday 14 January 2012. If you donate through this page, the site will reclaim gift aid tax on your donation (if you are a UK taxpayer), meaning any donation is worth around 25% more. So, for example, if you donate £10, the railway charity gets £12.42.
While the aim of this appeal is to help replace the vandalised church windows, the charity will be free to use the funds raised here for its other charitable purposes if the trustees consider there are exceptional circumstances or if the appeal raises more money than needed to restore the church.
Thanks very much for reading this. If you'd like to contribute anything, please do!

Happy memories of struggling to eat (and not spill) a curry while stood near the back of a rammed church at Indietracks 2009...haven't been back since, but will be back in 2012! :)
