Overcoming poverty, releasing potential, transforming communities
 |
58i exists to tackle root causes of poverty and exclusion in Nottingham and overseas. Our aim is to connect with vulnerable and isolated people by meeting their immediate needs, and then to empower them through support and training to realise their full potential.
|
58i is a fast-growing Christian-based charity established in 2005. We now work in partnership with several charities, churches and statutory agencies in delivering numbers of projects in the UK and overseas, making a real and lasting difference to literally thousands of lives.
Over 250 volunteers give their time and skills on a regular basis within 58i projects, serving hundreds of people every week. Our work in Nottingham includes projects delivering individual mentoring for drug and alcohol addicts, emergency accommodation for young people who find themselves homeless, debt counselling and support to families, amongst others.
Overseas, 58i operates a pioneering international development project in Northern Ghana called the King's Village. The King's Village works with local people to provide clean water and sanitation, education, health care and vocational training to the population of the Tolon-Kumbungu district. In an area where most people live on less than 50 pence a day, only 14% have access to clean water and the only doctor amongst 150,000 is provided by the King's Village, the project is truly transforming lives.
