Imagine not having a Bible of your own, or not even having access to a Bible. Imagine never being able to find comfort in God's Word or never being able to discover God's will for your life. Without God's Word we have no objective source of Truth, no 'lamp for our feet', no 'light for our path'.
Across the world God is answering our prayers for missions. Everywhere people are coming to Christ and thousands of new churches are being planted each year. (see www.mission.co.za) Unfortunately, without a Bible, most will never become disciples, but will remain converts - vulnerable to false teachings and the cults.
Right now an estimated 500 million Christians do not have a Bible of their own. For years the church has focused on using the Bible as an evangelical tool, or translating the Bible into new languages. These have been worthwhile efforts, but in the process we seem to have overlooked those who have come to faith in Jesus Christ, joined a church and desire to be discipled.
The fact that the Bible has been translated into a language does not mean that it is available to all. Most are too poor to purchase a copy. In Mozambique the average annual income is $12 per person - a Bible can cost as much as $15. This is repeated across the world.

People need the Bible in their heart language. Bibles for Believers purchases Bibles in a language familiar to the people who need it. We deliver the Bible to the local church and then train pastors and their members in how to understand the Bible for themselves.
