We are raising money for Northern Ireland Council for Ethnic Minorities (NICEM):
Northern Ireland Council for Ethnic Minorities (NICEM) NICEM Crisis Fund was set up in 2010 to provide emergency help and temporary basic assistance including hostel accommodation, food and toiletries to individuals in desperate situation who have no access to public funds.

The current system of immigration legislation in Northern Ireland excludes many categories of non-UK nationals from accessing even the most basic means of support, including homelessness assistance. As the government has not ring-fenced any money to help such individuals facing destitution, voluntary sector organisations are their only source of help.

Over Christmas 2010, NICEM was able to provide emergency aid for a heavily pregnant woman who became homeless following a breakdown of her relationship. She found herself destitute overnight and couldn’t access any public funded services. Thanks to NICEM’s crisis fund she was provided with temporary accommodation, food and baby clothes whilst a more lasting solution was sought through NICEM Advocacy Services.

While we continue to urge the government to provide emergency funding for non-UK nationals in destitute positions, without the charity of the community, vulnerable people like this Polish woman have no means of support. Help us to continue providing relief for those in desperate need by donating to our fund.

Thank you for your generosity, it is greatly appreciated.

100% of the amount of your donation will reach people in need. NICEM does not retain any administration cost on your donation.
