The Event:
As you hopefully know, we are entering the Three Towers Hike a competition hike which takes place in the countryside west of Reading. We have entered the 'Classic' event as team scrambled legs. The classic event is the longest event run in the series totalling roughly 45 miles through 15 checkpoints. The distance is covered in one day (and probably night) non-stop and will be a massive achievement if we make it to the finish intact.

The Charities:
Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Service: TVACAA are the charity behind the red and yellow helicopter 'BOB' and its crew of highly trained medics and pilots. BOB operates across the counties of Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire (hence BOB) providing cutting-edge emergency medical aid and transport to hospital. We chose to support TVACAA following the sad passing of George Dunning, the air ambulance attended the scene of his tragic accident and did all they could to give him the best fighting chance.
Great North Air Ambulance Service: GNAAS operate three helicopters which cover the north of England from the Scottish border to North Yorkshire in the East and Cumbria in the West. They cover an area of 8,000 square miles. We chose to support GNAAS following their role in the treatment of Andy’s dad when he suffered a heart attack while hiking in the Lake District. Their expert medical care, ability to get to remote areas and rapidly transport to the most appropriate hospital (The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, 100 miles away by road) were key to a complete recovery.
All donations we receive will be split equally between the two charities.
